While you can experience freefall speeds of up to 120 miles per hour, indoor skydivers reach speeds that are often faster than outdoor skydivers. In fact, the indoor world record for skydiving speed is a whopping 193 miles per hour! The competition was held at the Indoor Skydiving center in Chicago, Illinois by professional skydiver Lucas Coffey and his partner Chris DeAira. They were able to achieve this feat thanks to their customized individual flight suits—each suit was designed as an exact replica of their bodies so that they could maximize drag during flight.

One of the biggest differences between indoor wind tunnel skydiving and outdoor skydiving is that you won’t feel like you’re falling, since there’s no wind resistance. You’ll actually feel as though you’re floating!
